Striking Commissions make stunning centrepieces for hotels, boardrooms, restuarants and private homes
Q. Why do people commission their own paintings?
A. Birthdays and special commemorative events such as anniversaries are favourite reasons for choosing a personal piece of art, particularly the ones destined to be family heirlooms.
Julie Hammonds also has collectors who would like to own and live with a museum piece of classical art. Commissions of interpretations of masterworks are a speciality.
Q. What other commissions does the artist take?
A. They mainly fall into portraits, landscapes or marine paintings. People like to be involved in the process of choosing the subject, with favourite images being most popular.
Q. How much ?
A. Prices start from £300.00 for a small painting 8" x 8", and rise in proportion to size. There is an element of discussion and collaboration at the planning stage, and often a discussion will start with the client stating their chosen cost of painting. In that case we plan the size of the canvas to suit their finances.
Q. How do I go about booking a commission ?
A. I work in sequence, and so to secure your booking slot I need a small deposit to secure your window. A few weeks before I am due to start your painting, I will take one third of the final cost, with the remainder due on completion.
